The United Nigeria Association of Tulsa Shines at Eisenhower International School’s Cultural Fair

For over a decade, the United Nigeria Association of Tulsa (UNAT) has been a steadfast participant in the Eisenhower International School’s annual International Cultural Fair. This year, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, UNAT continued to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, delighting attendees worldwide.

Chairman Mr. Steven Eure expressed UNAT’s enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its significance in promoting Nigeria’s tourism and investment potential. “The fair provides a platform for us to share our culture and build bridges with other nations,” he said. “It’s an opportunity we eagerly anticipate every year.”

Representatives from various countries, including Russia, Japan, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Kenya, Turkey, Germany, and Mexico, attended the fair. UNAT’s vibrant display of Nigerian attire, and crafts captivated attendees.

Eisenhower International School’s Principal, Connie Horner, praised the fair’s ability to unite countries and cultures. “It’s heartwarming to see students and families from around the world come together, learning about and appreciating each other’s unique traditions,” she said.

The fair served as a learning opportunity for students, who carried a passport to be stamped by each country after their visit. This hands-on experience aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the world’s diverse cultures.

Through its continuous support and engaging presence, UNAT has become an integral part of the fair’s success. By sharing Nigeria’s rich culture, the association promotes international understanding and mutual respect.

As the fair continues to grow, UNAT remains committed to its mission of cultural education and exchange. By bringing nations together, events like this promote a brighter future, where diversity is celebrated and global citizenship is embraced.

In a world where cultural understanding is vital, UNAT’s dedication to sharing Nigeria’s beauty and richness serves as a shining example of Nigeria as a country and the welcoming spirit of its people.

Mr. Goddey Stephen Erue

PRESIDENT

Chairman's Welcome Speech

On behalf of the executive board, and the entire membership of the United Nigeria Association of Tulsa (UNAT), I sincerely and wholeheartedly welcome you to our website.

Our goal is to exploit our diversity for the growth and prosperity of greater Nigeria through community development, and partnership with other organizations.

Every human has a need to belong, and when we feel accepted for who we are and what we bring to the group, we can build trust with those around us. At UNAT, a sense of belonging creates space and opportunity for us to bring our resources and experiences to build a better equality and opportunity for all.

I encourage and implore you to spend some quality time with us to create a culture of oneness, and use this medium to express your purpose.

When purpose is not known, abuse becomes inevitable. This is very true because purpose matters.

As you journey through life here in the United States of America and especially here in Tulsa, leave a foot-print and let your acquaintances acknowledge that. May I also remind us that “Life is for service” to your maker (God) and to your fellow humans.

As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “We can no longer walk alone”. I therefore invite you to come and partner with us for the future of your heritage, your children and your generation.

Thank you.

Mr. Goddey  Stephen  Erue
(Chairman  –  UNAT)
