Time-out with FC Tulsa coach, Michael Nsien

I’m currently the head coach for FC Tulsa, 2nd division pro soccer team. I grew up in Tulsa, attended Booker T Washington HS and the University of Dayton, OH. I studied business and communications.

My love for football started when my father Michael Sr. Put together a soccer team and coached. I fell in love with the sport right away. I attended the 94 World Cup match Nigeria vs Bulgaria, which gave me a strong passion to connect with Nigerian Football.

Between my father and I, I always had a good amount of pressure on me to succeed. From early ages, it was instilled in me that you can achieve anything you’re willing to work for. From the age of 4/5 the sport has always been a significant part of my life. while people were celebrating holidays and life events, I was traveling and competing.

I always knew the game will be part of my life forever. Strong work ethic, communication skills from university, leadership from playing, transitioning to coach was inevitable. After a playing career that took me to Los Angeles and Portland, I was ready to try my hand in coaching.

I believe in goal setting, but more importantly I believe in being present every moment of every day. Sometimes you concentrate on goals and you get frustrated with the present and forget to get the most out of your current circumstance.

I believe that if I try to be the best I can every day, opportunities like coaching the Nigerian National team, or MLS can become attainable. At the moment I want to be the best coach for FC Tulsa, and continue to develop my abilities.

I’m a lifelong student of the game and have completed my UEFA A European coaching license, as well as my USSF A the American equivalent. I’m currently enrolled in the Pro license.

I’m looking forward to what God has planned for my future and I’m prepared to deal with all the great moments and adversity life has in store.

Mr. Goddey Stephen Erue

Chairman's Welcome Speech

On behalf of the executive board, and the entire membership of the United Nigeria Association of Tulsa (UNAT), I sincerely and wholeheartedly welcome you to our website.

Our goal is to exploit our diversity for the growth and prosperity of greater Nigeria through community development, and partnership with other organizations.

Every human has a need to belong, and when we feel accepted for who we are and what we bring to the group, we can build trust with those around us. At UNAT, a sense of belonging creates space and opportunity for us to bring our resources and experiences to build a better equality and opportunity for all.

I encourage and implore you to spend some quality time with us to create a culture of oneness, and use this medium to express your purpose.

When purpose is not known, abuse becomes inevitable. This is very true because purpose matters.

As you journey through life here in the United States of America and especially here in Tulsa, leave a foot-print and let your acquaintances acknowledge that. May I also remind us that “Life is for service” to your maker (God) and to your fellow humans.

As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “We can no longer walk alone”. I therefore invite you to come and partner with us for the future of your heritage, your children and your generation.

Thank you.
